Recently we have upgraded our PCs to use Windows 2000, since this we have had problems starting Centre-Vu. This happens approx once per week, we start the program and the login screen comes up but it is all greyed out. It has user-id in and a series of * in the password box, but won't let us do anything with it. Our only solution is to reboot the PC. We are running V9 software and it happens on all the PC's.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

Hey B4rney,

I had this problem on a number of occasions. I escalated t to Avaya who told me it was a known problem with no solution offered from them. I did, however, figure out that if you deleted the cache file from the local PC (C:\Program Files\Avaya\CentreVu Supervisor 9.0\Cache\Cache.tmp) and then relaunch the application it works. This means that there is no need to reinstall CMS. the bad news is that it usually reoccurs so I created a DOS script to delete this file on login/startup.

Hope this helps!

Simon

Thanks Simon, I will give this a try to start with. I presume no patch as been forth coming from Avaya. The strange thing is that it is working fine on other sites without problem!
Cheers anayway.

Hi b4rney,

without knowing which CMS version your using i could be wrong here.
I'm using V11 on CMS and downloaded the latest patch for CentreVu. FN02

This works with both win2000 and XP and can be obtain via the Avaya web site.

I've not had the problem come back yet (8 months)

Rgds,
lever.

No patch available from Avaya, and they aslo said they were unlikely to be releasing one. Even stranger is that it doesn't happen on later versions!

I did find that we had roblems due to the PC build we were instaling there but again, no solution found. Maybe this is the reason for your difference on each site?

Cheers guys. We are using V9 CMS and I also have had a saunter through the Avaya site but cannot find anything.

I believe thsi problem is caused when Supervisor is not shut down properly before shutting down/logging out of the machine. Couldn't you build a batch file that deletes the cache file at machine startup? That should eliminate the problem.

We had the same problem years back. We solved it by updating all of the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Office 2000 updates.
