I have a Centillion 100 chassis with multiple etherspeed switch cards (16 port) and one ATMspeed/155 card with MCP port. I'm currently unable to communicate with the MCP port (cabling issue I think), but would like to just use the etherspeed cards as switches. When I connect to cisco devices and try to pass data (ping) I get no response, debugging tells me that I have an encapsulation failure. Do I have to have an etherspeed card with MCP port to support the etherspeed switch cards, or will the ATM card suffice?

HELP!!! I have just acquired a 5000bh, but know nothing about the system. Can anyone tell me where I can obtain documentation and software to configure this beast?

I just purchased a c100 and have made a serial cable,
but I get nothing when I plug into the MCP RS232 port.

Not even a hint that this thing is booting ?

Have I missed something ?
Any clues would be appreciated ?

Hi there,

I too have tried this technique, and was excited to see what looked like good data. But, it didn't appear to do the trick, as I wasn't able to use the password. The password is in this chunk below, and should be "ophir2000". Am I doing something wrong?

0x0540 -> 00 00 6F 70 68 69 72 32 30 30 30 00 00 00 00 00 - ••ophir2000•••••

and what lines BFC704A0 and BFC704B0 say?
Could you send this two lines for me???

Sure. I should note that the values you see above are offsets from the start value of BFC60000, which means that the password that you see starts at BFC60542. It looks like BFC704A0 and BFC704B0 say all FFs:

BFC704A0: FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF
BFC704B0: FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF

Say, will the C100 give a chance to reset the password, if I monitor its serial port during start-up? I noted in a FAQ that it is true for other Baynet switches...

Dean Weiten.

Really strange! It seems that is all right with the procedure. The password MUST be ophir2000
Try to go at the second "2C" occurance! Does it show the same thing?

Can anyone tell me where to find the speedview software and rom images for the C100 MCP?

I have 3 C100 Chassis all with different MCP boards.

On boot 2 of them come up with:

POST Not implemented yet!

Returning to MAIN PROM ...

Can anyone tell me what that means.

Thanks

Hi again,

I got down there and went through the password procedure again, no luck. But, I found out that this "what?" mode has the following syntax:

READ: r[b | h | d] <address> <data> [<count>]
WRITE: w[b | h | d] <address> <data> [<count>]
DUMP: d[b | h] <address> [<length>]
TEST: t <address> [<length>]
LOAD: l <address> <length>
PROG: p <addess> <length>
JUMP: j <address>
FILL: f <address> <data> [<length>]
KILL: k

Kind of interesting for a microsystems developer like me...

Anyway, I did a dump of a huge swath of memory using syntax like &quot;d 0bfc40000 080000&quot;, and logged it to a file. Then I scanned through the file for &quot;012C&quot; pattern. And, there it was! Another copy of the password at around BFC40540. A slightly different password - and this one works!

BFC40540: 00006F70 68317232 30303100 00000000
BFC40550: 00000200 0000012C 0000012C 00000000

I guess we need to add to the instructions above, to advise to look in a third area, BFC40000-BFC407FF.

Now it all works, and I have configured the switch for use. Nice piece of hardware!

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Dean Weiten.

Does anyone know if there is any security setting for the telnet port on the Centillion100 switches? How many telnet session can be active at once. Is there a timeout or count limit on failed password attempts?

Is there a limit to the length of the password and by some chance what character set it uses?

I am preparing to do a brute force hack of my switches and have not found enough good sources for information on these chassis.

To date I have run snmp against the switches and have been able to read their status, but not make changes. (snmp write must have been changed at some point)

Any information would be taken with many thanks.

I just bought a Centillion 100 on eBay. I've downloaded all the doc and even downloaded a copy of SpeedView 5.1. It has an EtherSpeed II 10/100 20-port card. It sees the card, but I can't enable the ports. ON the CLI, MCP shows the card as &quot;RUN&quot; state, but when I try to probe for more information, it says &quot;still initializing&quot;. At powerup, the LEDs all flash and dance then all is dark. Also, the 10/100 port on the MCP card does not seem to work. It won't answer pings, but does have a link light. I've setup the IP, etc... I see in the doc. that this port &quot;is not supported in early versions of SW&quot;. On the MCP I'm running &quot;MCP Version 5.0(1.0) Advanced Image&quot; compiled on May 23, 2000. The MCP card is an &quot;ATMSPeed 622 MM&quot;.

Am I being stupid? If this code is too old, where can I download a more recent version? (I've registerd at Nortel, but they want money for support, etc...)

Hi guys..
I just crash-out a centillion via what prompt, now I lost my configuration without backups, and I'm completely lost.
Anyway to revert to factory default?
Thanks

I forgot something else. When i debugged start at 0fbc60000 there is a output looks like these..
BFC60000: 0000DCB3 DEAD1BAD 0005001F 0000125C
BFC60010: 007C0008 00000000 00010602 01010000
BFC60020: 14041000 00000000 000B0923 00023000
BFC60030: 46204000 00FFFF00 000000FF 00000000
BFC60040: 00000000 01020200 01101010 00001000
BFC60050: 00000000 02FFFF00 000000FF 00000000
BFC60060: 00000000 03FFFF00 000000FF 00000000
BFC60070: 00000000 04FFFF00 000000FF 00000000

is there a way to recover?

Thanks..

Hi there,

It sounds like you have a terminal program running through the serial port. That's what you will need, anyway.

From the "what" prompt (see notes from fabianoboscatto above), dump the following areas with the commands:

d 0bfc40000 800
d 0bfc60000 800
d 0bfc70000 800

Look through the resultant output for the double "012C" pattern that fabianoboscatto mentioned, then follow his procedure to recover the password from the previous couple of lines, as per above on 2002-06-04.

Once you have the password (you may have more than one, so try them), you run SpeedView with that password, get the configuration, and proceed from there.

We don't want to buy the PSU. Maybe I can connect some other PSU (I have some Cisco PSU)... All I need to know the pinout of PSU connector. Maybe could someone help me: info@savel.org

I just got a cent 100 i have no idea it has no mcp all i have are 6 eatherspeed cards there old 8 10t ports and 2 100t ports i dont know how i should get to command line interface and what type of cable i need pls help...

Not MIS, pressed wrong button. Student...

i'm working with cent 100 and i'm using the ATMspeed module with speedview 5.1. the strange thing is in the switching tab in speedview window there is no ATM port exists there. I have used the LANE and have configured everything but i still can't ping from 1 PC to another PC (each of them are connected to 2 cent 100s, and those 2 cent 100s are connected with ATM)please somebody who has ever configured ATM before help me...
