I will be implementing SBS soon but need to know how will i configure Internet and email as i want users to be able to use their existing Internet conncetion and POP email from ISP while i'm still setting and configuring the SBS server.
For instance: Will they loose their Internet connection during the SBS setup and how will i manage the Exch setup on SBS without disrupting their current Outlook/POP Acc @ ISP setup.

Just to add to my previous thread.
Some people say that SBS setup makes itself the router and even uses the router IP address.
If thats true i'm completely lost.
I want to setup SBS but dont want users to loose their Internet connection in the meanwhile.

jakess,

Take a look at this document which outlines what you'll be doing... migrating from a peer-to-peer network to SBS 2003:

It has a good overview of what to expect.

If you plan on installing and configuring this server during working hours, then your users need to expect at least SOME disruption in their connections and email. You have to physically go to each workstation to join it to the SBS domain (with which takes about 20 minutes per computer just for that process. Overall, the network would probably be down for 2 to 3 hours if this is the first time you've ever installed SBS.

If the business runs 24/7 and you cannot afford to have that kind of downtime, then you should hire someone who has the proper experience to deploy your server with practically no downtime. (For instance, I am confident that I could pull that off... but I've installed over 100 SBS's and configured hundreds of networks) It's not really possible to give you that level of guidance through a forum such as this.

Obviously i can leave users in their workgroups and join them to the domain when needed or when i'm ready.
As long a they can access their email and internet they will be happy.
It was just a concern as far should i continue with the setup/wizards without messing up their existing internet/email setup.
Then there should be no downtime not so?
