I would like to install CE10 Professional on the Crystal server so I can take advantage of Business Views. I use CR9 Developer on another machine, and upload all reports to the web via the CMC.

Will this work? Any compatibility issues? Couldn't find anything on the BO website. Couldn't even find anywhere to ask a real person this question!

I am planning on taking a business view class next week. We were told that in order implement view time security using business views that Crystal 10 was necessary along with CE10. We talked to another company that has implemented business views and they are on Crystal 10.

I believe cnmrfrds is correct. Business Views was introduced in CR10 so I don't think CR9 Designer would even be able to see them. The BV's are stored in the Crystal Repository, which was moved from CR to CE starting in version 10.

I have recently been told by BO that CR9 with CE10 is NOT supported (7th Oct 04). I have CR9 installed on one machine and CE10 on another and basic report viewing and scheduling "appears" to be working OK. I am having problems with the CMS and thumbnails and have been advised to strip out CR9 and install CR10. I have not tried Business Views yet.
P.S. I would consider myself an amateur user of Crystal if it helps!

It's unfortunate that you require BVs for security as this is yet another proprietary layer offered by BO.

If possible, apply security at the network level, and inherit it into your database/applications.
