My CE9 environment reboots itself on a monthly (sometimes weekly) basis. It has the Analysis Addin as well.

I have applied all the available patches from Crystal.

Can anyone advise me as to possible causes as there is nothing in the Windows Log apart from the unexpected shutdown.

The system is a Compaq Server running Windows 2000 with MSDE as the APS database and no other software running on the server except for Sophos AntiVirus and Veritas Backup Exec.

Thanks

Ian.

It probably has nothing to do with Crystal Enterprise. I'd run some hardware diagnostics. I have had an issue with my CE Server rebooting and was able to trace the issue down to the remote access software I was using. Basically, everytime I logged into the machine remotely (it was in an offsite, secured server room) it would reboot. We resolved the issue by switching to a different remote access software (VNC).

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the offending software I was using as it was a few years ago, but it wasn't just Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Connection.

Hope this helps

My Win2K desktop started self-rebooting due when the Task Scheduler tried to fire off a program. Initially I thought it was the program being launched but traced it down to the Scheduler itself. Never have found the cause, unfortunately, but just quit using the Scheduler. This Scheduler is also realted to remote access.

I have had Compaq Diagnostics run on the server and they state that the server is 100% fit.

For remote control software we're using VNC and terminal services only.

I also have a daily scheduled task on the server which uses Windows scheduler which seems to work happily and not actually cause reboots when this happens. But I will try disabling the task scheduler.

It rebooted itself yesterday at 12:50pm, while I was out to lunch so no one would have been directly on the server at this time.

Any further advice / pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ian.
