I have created a report in CR 8.5 and placed in CE8.5. I need the user to be able to export the file to Excel. When the Crystal Report is ran to the ActiveX Viewer and then exported, many of the columns have a carriage return at the end of the column so when the user uses the Excel spreadsheet in V lookups, the columns are not equal to the exact value .. they have a little square at the end which I believe is a carriage return. Any ideas how I can get the square to go away?

Crystal 8.5 has tab-separated and comma-separated options.

If your export-choice says things like Excel Extended rather than MS Excel 97, then an update may fix it.

Thanks for the responses. I forgot to mention that our Crystal Enterprise is on Solaris and not Windows if that matters. I spoke with our system administrator and he said no patches have been applied. We are moving to Crystal Enterprise XI soon so we probably won't install the patches so I can't test that.
When I am in Crystal Enterprise and have run the report, I only get the options to export to Crystal Reports 8, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Rich Text Format, and Adobe Acrobat.
For now, I have decided to let the user choose to schedule the report (which is cumbersome for them) and under the format option, they choose Excel (Data Only) and this seems to work. However, if someone knows how I can get those other options that you spoke of in your responses to show for my export after simply running the report, I would love to hear from you. It seems like the formats that are available when I choose schedule should also be available when you run the report and then export. Thanks again for the responses.

Hi,
Crystal Enrerprise ( and BOE XI) has only a subset of the export options that Crystal Reports has. CSV ( and other delimited types) are not included..

They are there for me.
Schedule > Format > Character Seperated Values

No HTML, XML, or ODBC though.
