I have liteon cdrw disc which has a lot of vital files i copied onto it. When CDRW driver went on blink I bought a bew one. Since then I have only been able to access the CDRW disc once, after system rebuild (using Fdisk) and before copying another file onto it.
Clicking on properties General info tells me there's something there. 687,833,088 bytes 655 mb. Possibly overfull? Volume info tells me Data. The Cd consists of WP, DTP and scenned info as well as other files etc.
I am looking to retrieve this info, forcibly if necesary. Can anyone out there help? Desperately important files.

What did you add/remove during the system rebuild?
Try getting the latest drivers/firmware for you CDROM/DVDROM.
Also, try putting the CD in another computer and see if it can be read. Check the disk for physical damage such as scratches. Did the burn process seem to go fine or were there errors?
More info would help. ~Apex1x

Hello,

It is possible that you formated the cd when you first used it as a "direct cd". With this option it is possible to use the cd-rw disc as a floppy disk. You only have to drag and drop files to the cd and they will be burned.

What burn programm did you used ? If you used Easy Cd Creator try to install direct cd. Also Nero uses the same technik but it has another name which I don't know at this time.

Good luck,

Pascal.

system rebuild was just basically an exact replacement of all files and software. MS Office, Dtp, Scanner, Nero software for cdrw and my freeserve internet software. MacaFee Virus protect. The onl new parts was my graphics card because the old one was knacked. But same replacement and the New CDRW rom driver too which is faster. OLD system was 24x10x40. New CDRW driver is 40x12x48. Nero's own Scandisk prog reports read error @ message. 99.54 of disc reported as good during scan except read error.

Have you tried to clean the CD with a soft, dry cloth?

The CD itself was polished and cleaned as per guidance by my helpful tech guy at PC store who I trust and regularly do business with.

Go into Nero or whatever burning program you were using and make sure that you closed the CD so that it can be read in any CDROM. You probably formatted it but didn't close it off before you rebuilt your system. ~Apex1x

apex, don't know how to Close the Nero burn disc off. This is relatvelt new to me CDRW that is. Thanks for help thus far. Have run scandic and still also getting read error at 00.24.00 99.54 disc is ok though according to scan. If there's a way of getting it to repair the result of the can that migh fix it too? Do you think. Like you can with HDD etc.

One that I am familiar with is called CDRoller at:

You can download a free trial from their site.

If this doesn't work, and the CD is extremely important, you can give the CD to professionals who should be able to recover most if not all of the data assuming there is no physical damage to the disk.

One such company is
