why do i get the following error when i type #eject cdrom

# eject cdrom
cdrom: Inappropriate ioctl for device
#

does anyone know what the crack is!!!

sounds "dynamic configuration" issues, a reboot -r should solve the problem, something like:

# sync;reboot -- -r

Regards,

Carlos Almeida,

I have tried the above command, still same error!!!
any more clues

theres no benefit in you not getting cdrom: Inappropriate ioctl for device when you go to the cdrom

I wish to restore backup taken using Solstice Backup 5.0.1 on Solaris 2.6 platform over to Solaris 8 platform with Solstice Backup 6.1 software. Can any one tell me whether it will work okay ?

It was taken on L1000 hardware and the migration to Solstice Backup 6.1 is possible only if this reads the older backups.

Any one to help ????

Thanks from Dheena

if you "eject cdrom" and there is no cdrom in the drive, guess what?

cdrom: Inappropriate ioctl for device

run "df -k" to check

on the subject of eject, a useful command is "eject -n" to display all the nicknames for device name translation table.
