CDR on 911 calls not sent? 1

My customer has a 3rd party SMDR program that monitor's 911 calls. When a 911 call is made it triggers a page to their staff. This has been working fine. In the past 6 months however, every now and then a 911 call is made, it's output on the monitor as an OSN call, but the pagers aren't triggered.

After some checking into this...it appears that, although the OSN record prints, the CDR string doesn't....and perhaps this is why the pagers don't go off. We've spent a while peering @ all the CDR for the time period in question to get to this point.

What would cause this? Is there a timer on the CS1000 for this? Is there something turned 'off' on the telset? Originally we thought 911 was misdialed (misdial prevention is not turned on) and they hung up too quickly, but the call was made--shouldn't the CDR reflect it?

Here are the ESA printouts and RDB....what other information would be helpful? Has anyone seen this before?

No Outbound Page -no CDR output.

I would set

OAN to NO on the route.

OAN says "Only start the CDR timer when answer supervision is received". So, you could dial 911 and hang up right away, get the OSN record, but not get the CDR record if OAN was YES

Great, I'll try it. Thank you very much!

Officially, CDR is not supported for EE911 call notification. There are many reasons, but the fact that E911 calls do not always return answer supervision is one of them.

Another reason is that OSN is triggered during the digit collection phase, and CDR is triggered once a trunk has been siezed.

The application that is monitoring ESA events via the CDR is apparently not a Dev Connect Member, as they would not have been approved using this unreliable method for ESA call detection.

SNMP Traps are the best bet for monitoring ESA events in the system.

Thank you for the valuable information Fletch. I turned on misdial prevention, as the majority of the 911 calls turned out to be misdials. Hopefully that and your information is enough for us to monitor the situation. Next step will be OAN = NO, but hopefully we won't need to go there. Thank you again!
