Hi, I have the following CDR record from an incoming 9-1-1 call over a CAMA trunk into our Meridian 81C. We're using the "new" CDR format.

S 032 00 T050001 1691 02/06 03:22:57 00:00:14.0 1691
&405035551212XXXX

I can recognize the area code and number of the caller (changed to protect the innocent to 5035551212), but we have the digits 40 appear before every record.

Can anyone help me understand what 40 means?

Many thanks...

Jim in Portland,OR

I'm curious if you see that on the actual phone too. When that call comes in, is the "40" there.

The 40 does not show up on the 9-1-1 calltaker's screen.
This particular example is from a wireless 9-1-1 call that is answered first by an Interalia XMU, processed using route 50, member 1-12, and handled by our Symposium server. The caller either verbalizes or presses any key and the call is transferred to a 9-1-1 agent through another route so we can keep track of how many calls are being screened.

I'll ask my Qwest tech about the virtual loop and I'm not sure what an MSGI is.

Qwest tech did some research and found that 40 is part of the MF sequence to get the ANI from the tandem to our Meridian using CAMA trunks. 40 means a normal call, 44 means a flashing ANI, and 48 is used for testing.

The Meridian E911 software strips the digits before it delivers it to the agent phone.

thanks all..
