CDR and other items...

I have a customer that wants to "remote" CDR from their corporate office. My impression is, from past experience, that CDR/SMDR are usually downloaded to a local printer,
am I correct???

Is there any firm on the Eastern Seaboard, preferably in
MD, DC, VA, NC that offers training on the Norstar product
line? training at Nortel is just waaaaaayyyyyy to $$$$$$.

Lastly, you guys out there have a great site. I have been here for reference more than once since I found this site.

Well, a straight SMDR can be connected to a serial printer but if you use an adaptor and connect it to a COM port on your computer you can see the same reports using Hyperterminal or Procom.
OR you can use the computer set up and install call accounting software such as TAPIT and compile reports that are much more user friendly than what the SMDR alone can provide. Also this way, they can email the requested reports to whomever needs them in the corporate office.
The corporate office will not be able to generate them directly but someone else can generate the reports and send them on to corp.

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know what type of adaptor to plug into the COM port?

I am not too familiar with the TAPIT software, but I did look at the website and it looks like a viable option.

Now, not to sound too stupid but, what is the proceedure to download CDR from a Norstar, this is an operation that I have never performed before, on a Norstar that is....

The SMDR spits out the info real time into whatever device you have it connected to.
As far as the connector... it looks as though it is a 9 pin to 25 connector.

I use SMDR to a PC and then use a program called Microcall to organize and list out the records I want. It is really a good tool to watch out for call abuse and other stuff like that. Don't get me wrong I am not tryin to sell you on using Mircocall thats just what we use.
