I'm replacing a M2250 console with an M3904, and rebuilding the phone as an ACD set. My intention is to take out the programming for the attendant console, and make 0 a CDN that points to the ACD queue. Does anyone know of any problems this would create? I don't see anything in the documentation that indicates that 0 is different than any other DN.

We've done this, there are no problems.

1) change the atdn in the cdb to something different - this free's up 0 as a number
2) build a phanton set with 0 as the dn and the dcfw as the acd q number/cdn - we are stuck for cdn's so couldn't create 0 as a new cdn
3) get rid of 2250!!

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Please pardon my ignorance on this topic, but what is the benefit of doing this. We have no experience with the 39 series phones, so I know I must be missing something pretty cool

For us, there are 2 benefits:
1) Not having to maintain the M2250 anymore.continue to have hardware problems. The refurbished units are only lasting 4-6 months before they crap out, and we'd rather replace it with a solution that runs on cat5 cable. The 3900 series phones aren't anything spectacular, but you don't have to label them and they are still supported by Nortel.
2) More importantly, as an ACD queue our supervisors can observe the set, we can monitor and report on it from Symposium, and record the calls with our call recording software.

This is all very interesting and appealing. We never progressed beyond 2250s and 2616s. It this an IP phone, or programmed as a digital set?
thanks.

Programmed as a digital set. You do need to be careful if you use specific attendant features. Most attendant features are not available in ACD queues. In our scenario, we weren't using those features anyway, so the decision to migrate was pretty easy to make.
