After installing BO 5.1.3 (stand-alone) on my boss's PC (Win2000) he gets an error message after trying to use a .txt or .xls file as input:

ERROR: CDoaException
SCODE_CODE=340 SCODE_FACILITY=4 SCODE_SEVERITY=1 ResultFromScode=2147746132

The installation works on any other PC, so I don't know what went wrong.

Thanks for your help

I found the solution myself, as Bo finally gave me a login to their support website. (After 10 days and tons of e-mails and a support contract since years).

1) Go to Vol1\Microsoft\DATAACC on the BO CD1.

2) Run Dataacc and send dao350.dll to C:\Program Files\Common Files\ Microsoft Shared\DAO

3) Execute: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ Microsoft Shared\DAO\dao350.dll"

I have the exact same error on an NT4 PC but when i try and run the regsvr32 command as above i get an error :-
loadLibrary ["c:\program"] failed GetLastError returns 0x0000007e
I click OK and the problem still remains.
am i doing something wrong ?

Try the exact DOS path, aka C:\Progra~1\Common~1\Micros~1\DAO\dao350.ddl or whatever it is on your machine.

It didn't like the path thats for sure !! ( it was typed in correctly ) if i moved to the directory in DOS then run the regsvr32 dao350.dll it registered fine BUT i now get the following error "Couldn't find installable ISAM (3170)"
any ideas rorbac

BO says this:

For Windows 98 and NT4:
Resolution 1
1. In the appropriate path, check if the required DLLs are present:
a) In path "files\common files\microsoft shared\dao": dao350.dll
b) In path "winnt\ system32": ExpSrv.dll, MSExcl35.dll, MSJet35.dll, MSJInt35.dll, MSJtEr35.dll, MSRepl35.dll, MSRD2x35.dll, VBAJet32.dll, msexch35.dll, MStext35.dll

2. Check the versions of these files against a machine not experiencing this issue. Copy any missing or older DLLs from this machine.

Resolution 2
Re-Install the Microsoft Data Access Pack from BusinessObjects 5.1 Disk 1
At the message asking to prompt if newer DLLs exist on the system, do not select the box but close the window. BusinessObjects will not overwrite newer DLLs, and will only add the needed files into the system.
1. Select \Vol1\Microsoft\Dataac2. Run Dataac.exe.
3. Select Data Access Pack and install.

Resolution 3
Install the Microsoft Data Access Pack "Jet35sp3.exe" directly from the Microsoft support website.

But there are many other possibilities for this error, and I'm not sure BO will be happy if they notice I copy/paste info from their Knowledge Base (support contract!)
