Have just instaalled a new CD-RW. It is functional and is burning properly. However when an audio CD is played there is a skipping sound. Any help would be appreciated.

not sure what you mean by skipping. I had a compaq awhile back that we replaced the drive on .It still skipped, would play part of a song than skip to the next. It turned out to be a setting in the software (operating sys,Windows 98 I think)which was set to preview each song.Once this option was unchecked the audio cds played fine. Hope this helps

Thanks Boardswapper. The audio tracks will play in their entirety but have little "jumps" or "skips" in the song. This is not previewing each track. I am thinkinh it may be hardware related but not that sure.

Is the CD scratched or dirty? Jennifer Sigman
