I have a Phillips CD burner that will not respond. I use Easy CD creator, when I try to burn a CD it tell me to insert a CD with sufficient disk space. This is true with a brand new CD. Also, when I go to explore the drive it tells me that it is inaccessible. I do not believe it is the software as I have uninstalled it and re-installed several times. I also routinely do maintenance on my computer. What can I do? Please help!

Is this a new drive or has it been in for a while?
Does the Device Manager show the drive under the CD-ROM list?

We have had it for awhile. I checked the Device Manager, it says it's there and that its working properly. Tried to get a new driver, it wasn't needed.
When we first turn the computer on and the dark screen is there, it shows only the original C drive. Does this mean anything? Sure would appreciate any suggestions you can give!

Lost both my cd drives the other day. Went into bios and reset defaults and exit. Just a tip not sure what your prob is.LOL PEARL

Is this an external drive as many Phillips were.
If so delete you port or usb hub-put os disk in cdrom-reboot system.

If an internal drive then -if you have not added any new hardware or upgraded to aol 8.0-then you try a disc drive cleaner.
If that does not work check to see how much mem you have left for virtual use.
Remember these drives are wholly dependent on virtual mem to function.

just a tip to try: I have win xp pro,hp cd-writer internal 10x and had such a problem with roxio program, though I download the xp upgrade. when I installed the new ez cd creator 5.02 which support win xp, the problem solved.
