Hi....
I have a Pentium 3, 1GHz, 30Gb HDD, 52X CD-ROM etc.
I installed Win2000 Professional on to the computer and my CD-ROM drive won't read any CDs!! I formatted my computer, thinking it will work again and it doesn't!! That's why I need some peoples' help.
Please send me a reply soon.
Thanks!

Does the CDROM read if you boot off of a Win98 boot disk? James Collins

Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.

Suggest you go into the Device Manager and delete the CD drive, then reboot and let it reinstall with the automated hardware wizard.

Have some ?'s
Is the cdrom on the hcl and or is it installing as a default device?
Can you play audio cd's? If you can play audio cd's then the cd rom is most likely defective.
what is make and manufacturer?
Is a scsi or ide?
If it's scsi make sure the chain is terminated.
If it is check for scsi id conflicts.

Hope that helps
