Cd-rom Opens itself

I have a cd-rom that opens it self. As soon as you turn on the pc it opens. Then when you close the drive it opens again. I ran it will just power but not hooked up to the pc still had the same results. Is there any way I can repair this problem? I do not want to by another one!

Did you try the simple stuff, like making sure the open/close button isn't jammed? If you have access to another pc, remove the CD-ROM and test it in another pc.

Definitely sounds like a hardware problem to me. Try it in another PC, but I doubt it will make a difference.

CD-ROMs are dirt cheap nowadays. You can find brand new ones for well under $40. Just make sure you don't buy a noisy one!!
