I had a Compaq DeskPro 700mhz CPU, with a CD ROM drive. The CD was running fine. I added another external CD-RW (BackPack CD-Rewriter) and the setup didn't worked well. I removed the program via Add/Remove Program. After that was completed, the original CD-ROm that came with machine does not work anymore. On Device Manager it has an "Yellow Exclamation Point" and at the GENERAL tab says Code 9 (Registry might be corrupt)

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Did you check the jumpers on the back of the drive? If you added the CD/RW to the same IDE channel as the other CD drive, one will have to be Master and the other Slave.
