Help!! I had my PC on during a power outage. Ever since then, I cannot use my CD Rom. When I insert a CD, it sounds like it's spinning, but nothing will happen.

Does the operating system still recognize the cd-rom drive?

here is something that works sometimes-

shut down your computer
pull the power cord from the back of the machine
depress the power button for about five seconds
*(this discharges any charge that may have built up)*
plug it back in and restart the computer

something else you may want to try is making sure that your cdrom is working and recognised in DOS. (that will just let you know your cd rom is functional and that it is something to do with the operating system not recognising it) You may want to check ifyour cd rom is listed as one of your IDE devices as well if its not recognised in DOS
