HI,
I posted a couple days ago that I can't see either my CD writer or CD Rom. I have uninstalled , reinstalled, changed the ribbons inside the computer, and installled new drivers. The error that I get is:

THE DEVICE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY BECAUSE WINDOWS CAN NOT LOAD THE DRIVERS REQUIRED FOR THIS DEVICE. (CODE 31)

Also I am running Win2000 and when I reinstalled the CDROM windows did not detect new hardware.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Lisa

Go to the manufacturer of the CD Writer and get the latest drivers for that model. Jennifer Sigman

A few ideas for starters:-

Did they work before, or have they just stopped working?
Have you upgraded any hardware (i.e. motherboard)?
Are they scsii/ide?
If IDE do they show up in the BIOS?
If IDE are the master/slave settings correct, also try them individually as a single device on an ide cable.
If SCSII are they terminated correctly, and are the drivers for the scsii interface up to date?

Yes they worked befor,
No I haven't upgraded any hardware,
They are IDE,
I can see it in the BIOS, but how do i set the master slave settings?
and i have tried them individually on an IDE cable.
Any more suggestions.
Lisa
