I had downloaded a program called CD data rescue 1.1 and according to the program that my time had expired? The claimer says that there is a 30 day trial period before expiration, I don't know why this expiration has occured? I have used the program for only a good hour. I have written an email to the maker of the product but haven't gotten a response back yet.

I have an Iomega zipCD 650 usb model and sometimes it does a number on disks. The above mentioned program for data recovery did succesfully read and was about to recover the lost files but then stated I had to pay for the software first and to enter a registration number. I tried a re-download of the program and I still get the same expiration screen.

I am more than willing to pay for a program of this nature, but I would prefer to use it first to make sure it does what it is intended to do, seems logical. Doesn't seem fair when the program is about to do a recover session and a prompt slams down on you.

Or, if there are other programs available this would be super to. Thanks for your time.

sometimes the expiration can be induced by the actual date...for instance, this download may have been available for some time and was set to expire on a certain date anyway, regardless of how long you have had it.

you may be able to find something comparable at the link below:

sometimes you can "trick" the expiration by setting your clock back before you run the program.

Read the latest issue of Maximum PC I see!! %-)

I went to the company's website myself, read the FAQ's, downloaded the trial copy, read the disclaimer, but found nothing! It says there are some limitations to the trial version, but doesn't say what. It looks like you should be able to recover data during the trial period, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Nevertheless, I would wait to get a response from their tech support. If you haven't already, email them at support@naltech.com

I just received an email from the company and it was stated that the limits were that with this program you could only transfer 10 files minimum as long as they are 50K max file size. I downloaded a different program called cd-r diagnostics and this program will show the data but will not make a copy of it unless purchased as well. The cd-r diagnostics work a little better in distiguishing a cdrw and didn't hang, but costs more. Though the diagnostics one shows more information about errors and more descriptive details.
As I said I don't mind paying for the prog as long as it really does function as it is claimed. I think these places should allow a 2 time limit for backup then close out. The disclaimers aren't noted on the pre-install of the software but they are on the web sites.

Looks like I'm going to have to pay this coming month to find out what works. I have important items on the disk like a portfolio for a photo business I'm trying to work on.

I'll check out those above link shortly.
Thanks for all your time in responding back.
