Hi,

My CD-R/RW ROM is really killing me. It pop's out and in number of times all by itself(automatically though iam not using it to read or write any cd's). When it does that there is a autoplay window on the desktop which has a tourch scrolling back and forth( I guess it's looking for some folder or file, bu tI don't know what).

I have tried to uninstall the drives and install them back. It wasn't any help.
I scan my computer for any virus. But no virus.
What Can I do to stop this.

Os- is windows XP Pro
Hope you understand what I trying to say.

Thanks for your help.

Is it popping out whenever you try to close it? I had this problem with a LiteOn and I managed to fix it with others' help - I could give the details if it's this problem. :)

I mean the drive ejects(as though it does when a blank cd is been copied and ejects after completion) but here in my case Iam not using it to copy or nothing. It ejects and even closes by itself and it does like 10-15 times out/in..out/in..out/in.... and then out and stops. If I close it. It will start the same process in a while.

Thanks for you help

I did this. I turned off the PC, unplugged all the cables from the problematic CD drive, then booted into Windows. Then I shut down again, and plugged the CD drive cables in again, then when I booted up it worked. If that doesn't work maybe repeat the whole process but remove the CD drivers and Windows should install them the next time the CD drive is plugged in.

I will check this out. Thank you

I kinda tried this but what I did was just unpluged the cable which is connecting to the mother board( I wouldn't unplug the cables connecting to the dirve. They are so hard.
