I have a pacific digital external 4x4x8 cd-rw drive. I was using easy cd creator, but that software kept locking up on me, and giving me error messages.
Then I got Nero, and it has been working fairl stable. I've successfully been able to burn a few cd's. (I got it yesterday).
I'm not really aquainted with cd burning software, terms, whatever..

All I wanted to do was copy a few programs onto a cd.

Here is the error message I recieve when I tried to use this one blank(?) cd-rw disk.

Nero is checking for the medium, please wait...

to burn this multi-session compilation you need the medium that contains the previous backup sessions. Please insert this medium if you have not already done so.

medium required for compilation: cd r/rw

Medium type in recorder: (empty)

you need to start a new session...
Whenever you burn files to a cd, it's called a session. When you are done, Nero asks if you want to save the session. If you say yes, then try to continue that session, you will get that message.
Or possibly, you tried burning 2 cd's, one after the other, without clicking on "new session" in the application.
Read your help file.

Get Clone CD.
It's a better program.
Erase(Full erase)your CDRW disc,if you've tried to record to it already.
Here are the instructions to make a working backup of most Protected CDs using CloneCD in combination with a CD-Reader/CD-Writer which can both can handle DAO-RAW:
Create the following directory:
<TempDir>: C:\TEMP\CD
Create a CD-Image using CloneCD with these settings:
Set Read Speed to 1x (176 kByte/s)
Select Read SubChannel Data from Data Tracks
Select Read SubChannel Data from Audio Tracks
Select Fast Error Skip
Set Read Retry to at least 5
Set Error correction to None
UnSelect Don't report bad sectors
UnSelect Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner
When ready burn the CD-Image a CD-R using CloneCD with these settings:
Set Write Speed to any desired speed
Select RAW DAO
Select Don't Repair SubChannel Data
UnSelect Simulate Writing (if available)
Select Burn Proof/Just Link (if available)
unSelect Perform Laser Power Calibration
unSelect Wait until Buffers are full
Select Always close last Session

Hope this helps.
