i just bought a new 4kus 52x 24x 52x burner, and i wanted to use it with roxio easy cd 5 so i removed my 4x burner and put it in it worked fine it picked up and i was using it for months, but i just formatted my hard drive and reinstalled win98 and then easy cd 5 and it doesnt pickup now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry i thought i had better add that the burner picks up and works fine with other programs just that it isnt supported by roxio easy cd 5 anymore.

My bet is that you applied one of many updates made to this program over time and forgot about it. Check the Roxio site and apply any upgrade and try again.

I should note that some burner software such as Nero will, if applied after the install of Easy CD 5, essentially try to disable it. Perhpaps you have added a new burner software to your system that you did not use before?

Finally, it would be worthwhile to go to Adaptec's site and get an updated copy of your ASPI layer software.

never applied an update and tried to update aspi but no luck

chrisjohn,

You really should go to Roxio site and download any patches or updates to your Roxio program. I had a similar problem with a new CDRW not showing in NERO, and updating NERO did the trick. You may have updated Roxio in the past through an auto-update feature or something, but I would say that is your best bet. You might also want to apply any applicable SPs or SRs from Microsoft to your Windows 98 install. One of those two things should fix you right up. By the way, did you dump your old Windows install because of problems you were having?
