Hi,
The CD Burner on my PC no longer burns correctly, if at all.
Some issues I have are,
it will:
a) not burn at all
b) start to burn but then stop
c) burn but then when I try to view the CD it crashes my PC
(although the process hasn't got as far as 'c' for a while)
With this said, I can still 'read' from the CD drive, although both this drive and my DVD drive do at times think there is either no CD in the drive or nothing on the disc (which there is).
I have recently upgraded to XP Home from ME although it had started doing this whilst ME was installed. I have tried to burn with Nero and the Copy to CD function in XP but to no avail.
My current intensions are to upgrade to a DVD Burner as I'm a photographer and do have a problem with image build up on my PC (surprising how quickly mega bytes become giga bytes) and understand that DVD's hold quite a lot more data than CD's. The one thing I don't want to do though is buy a DVD writer/rewriter if the current problem I have is to do with something other than the CD rewriter.
Does anyone have any advice before I head off to PC World?
Regards
ColMofed
PS. Both the CD re-writer and DVD player were bundled with the PC when I bought it about 3 1/2 years ago. I'm running XP Home, 256 MB Ram, I GHz athlon processor.
