I had to reinstall Windows XP due to a power supply failure that caused my hard drive to have issues. After many weeks, I have gotten almost everything back, but just recently my CD drive has stopped working.
I don't know what could have caused the driver to become corrupt, nor do I know how long it was that my CD stopped working. It was working when I reinstalled Windows. Let me be more specific: my drive is a LITE-ON CD-RW SOHR-5239V, it has power, it shows up in the Device Manager, but there is a little yellow circle with an i next to it. I have downloaded the appropriate driver (2$E0.EXE), but when I run the file to install the driver it says
"No matched drive detected !
This utility is only for LITE-ON CD-RW SOHR-5239V drive.
Detected drives : "
So, what should I do to try to get my CD drive working again. The Microsoft "Fix-it" didn't help. What other options would you try?
I'm open to anything at this point.
