CCV cannot find delta server

Hello,

I'm using CCV 5.0.23 with delta server version 5.2.26 and CCV is not able to find the delta server when running on the same machine or different machine. The delta server is running Windows 2000 SP 4 with all the latest Windows Updates. The client machine I'm testing with is Windows XP SP3 with all the latest windows updates. The client machine has Symantec Endpoint protection installed and running but the logs do not show it blocking any threats. The machine the delta server is running on does not have any AV installed.

I've verified that the "Computer Browser" service is running and that "File sharing for Microsoft networks" is enabled. I have verified that the c$ share on the machine running the delta server is mapped and accessible on the client machines I'm testing with. I have also verified that the Delta Server HTTP Password Assistant does not have any IP addresses listed for the Allowed Clients. According to the documentation this should allow any IP address to connect to the Delta server.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Are you trying from the same subnet ?? or is there routing involved ?? I have seen this many times normally due to firewall or security application blocking the traffic.

Add an IP address & server name entry into the HOSTS file on the client machine

The client machine is on a different subnet. I've checked for traffic that is getting blocked and have been unable to find any. I've also ran Wireshark on the client machine looking for traffic from CCV, but I don't see any. How does CCV communicate with the delta server? Are there specific ports it uses? Also I've ran CCV on the same machine the delta server is running on and have the same problem.

I've added entries into the host file on the server and the client but still have the same issue.

If anybody has any other ideas on things to try or what I'm doing wrong, your input would be greatly appreciated.

 
Have you tried connecting by IP address rather than network name?
 
HAve you checked if the Delta Server Service is running??

Also, should this not be Win 2k3 server rather than 2k for CCC?? Not sure if that would cause this.

Does reporting and other CCC stuff work??

I have tried connecting to the IP address and machine name with the same results. When attempting to use CCV on the machine the delta server is running on I've also tried 127.0.0.1 and localhost.

Yes I have confirmed that the delta server is running. Reporting and all other functionality I've checked is working, the only thing I'm aware of that is not working is CCV.

Do you have NETBIOS activated on the client, CCV uses NETBIOS to connect to the deltaserver.

On your ethernet interface "Use Netbios" is usually set to default. Try setting this to "Enable Netbios over TCP/IP".
 
Also try netstat -a in a dosbox to see if port 8080 is used.

also try putting in MS IE and not firefox.

NetBios was disabled on the machines. Once I enabled NetBios it worked great. Thanks everyone for your help, I'd been looking at this for weeks trying to figure out what was wrong.
