I'm the "Two in the hand or one in the bush" guy below. I did take the part-time Systems Analyst job and it is going very well. But I am always thinking ahead.

It appears that this job will not be turning full-time in the fall as I was hoping, but that may be a blessing in disguise. It will force me to move forward in my full-time search.

But before I begin that search, I am hoping to get started on a systems admin certification. In the Charlotte region, which would give me more of an edge and a solid foundation; Windows, Linux, UNIX, or even Novell. I really have no preference (but I do love the command line) and I have discovered that difficulty is not issue. Like any of you, I can master anything I put my mind to.

Thanks for any advice.

The MCSA is a great Admin cert. Considering that you have some ISA experience, you could look at doing the ISA exam as your elective which will give you the security specialization (MCSA:Security). Comming from a Cisco backround, you'll find the 70-291 exam pretty easy as it's mostly routing and security as well as DNS and DHCP. That leaves the 2003 server exam and the XP exam. (4 exams in total).

Ben.
