I am installing a CCMS 6.0 standby server. The NTP says to backup the CCMS primary and then shut it down so the databases will be the same on the two. My question is this absolutely necessary or does it just preserve the recent historical data?

I would like to start the standby server install during the day and get it ready to go. Will this work if the databases are a few hours out of synch.

will you be using a replication server as well? if yes, the installation ntp of rep server has a procedure of backup and restore.

Yep, rep server too. That is the part I am curious about. THe NTP says to backup the primary and immediately shut it down so when I install standby server and rep server the database will be the same.

What happens if I don't shut down the primary and when the rep server starts up the databases have different historical data?
