My company is looking to patch our system from the current Cisco bugs that were released. We are currently running 3.3(3)sr4a. We are looking to upgrade to either 3.3(5) or 4.1(2) to resolve the issues. Both will patch the new holes posted by cisco without having to create any new access lists to protect us.

What I would like know is what are the major features/reasons for going to 4.1(2) over 3.3(5).

Thanks

The biggest reason I could see for going to 4.1.2 is there will be limited patches for CCM3.3.5 going forward. Cisco tends to hold back unless a MAJOR issue develops. If it is a non-critical issue, TAC will tell you to upgrade to the latest version before spending a lot of time on 3.3.5.
A reason to NOT go to CCM 4.1 is memory requirements. Cisco is recommending at least 2 Gig and suggesting 4 Gig for the server.
There are a some feature enhancements between the 2 that you should be able to find in the public sections of Cisco.com

Where does cisco state they recommended 4GB of memory? I can only find recommendations of 2GB.

You're right. I was going from memory :). The MCS7845's ship with 4 Gig but 2 Gig is still recommended for CCM 4.X servers.

I just did the upgrade this past weekend from 3.3(5) to 4.1(3). I didn't see the notice about the memory requirements until after the upgrade. Let me tell ya, they are not kidding. 4.1(3) running on 1 gig of ram does not work real well. Now running 3 gigs and everything is happy. Still running 1 gig on my subscribers without any problems though, but I'm not running any other apps on those servers except for CM.

I have currently have 4 GB on my pub and 2 on all subs and unity boxes. I think we going to go ahead to 4.1(3). It will also solve our anti virus problems since the newer version of mcafee is support by 4.1 and not 3.3

We upgraded from 4.12 to 4.13 around 3- 4 weeks ago running 1G of RAM, what problems have you noticed and why did you have to upgrade to 3G RAM

thanks

Basically very unresponsive. MSSQL was having memory issues. CAR was basically not working because the server was just slow. Adding 2gigs made a huge difference.
