Has anyone tried to use the Nortel NRS (Network Routing Service) as an H.323 Gatekeeper between a CCM and the Succession? I am concerned about the VoIP packets themselves, ie. will the Succession recognize and decode the packets?. I am making the assumption that for this setup to work, CCM needs to be running SIP (CCM5.X) but I'm not sure whether CCM would be able to talk to Succession on ANY protocol.
Presently, we are running a PRI between the 2 systems for trunking.

CCM talks to Succession just fine using QSIG. If the NRS is running H.323, why would you think you'd need SIP on the CCM?

Regarding the VoIP packets themselves, you should have any problems at all as long as the codecs match. It's the signalling you have to worry about. :)

If you already have PRI connectivity, why not convert to QSIG and be done with it? That's a fairly powerful protocol and offers a number of advantages over plain PRI.

I'm not familiar with QSIG but will read up on it. I am looking to increase the number of calls between the 2 systems without adding hardware. With the PRI, we can only do 23 calls but I thought with the NRS being a Gatekeeper, we would not be limited to anything but bandwidth and since they would be on the same LAN.......no real problems.
Your thoughts??

I think you're on the right track but I have absolutely zero experience in integrating Succession with CCM via H.323. You'd think it would be possible, though. And you're right about only being limited by bandwidth at that point. That scales quite a bit better than multiple PRI circuits.

I intgrated Nortel 2 Cisco CM
and on SIP its doesnt work good and on H.323 its use Q931 so u dont have Names, so QSIG is better for u now.

i have some problem on it, like
on H323, i using Alow and the CCM using Mulow
and i have callpilot messaging,
when i call from PSTN to Cisco to Nortel to Voice Mail (CallPilot) the sound is not good, only if the cisco changing the Mulow to Alow be forc its OK.

(more) in the begining we tried SIP Trunk with nortel NRS
and wasnt good bcoz no names was transfer on display

i dont think some1 made a fully intgration between does two
