CCM on VMWARE and CCM on Production

Im planning to set up CCM on a PC using VMWARe for testing purpose only. The question im asking is:


1) should i consider something bevor connecting that pc with CCM on it to our Network which has 2 Callmanger in Production (1 Sub, 1 Pub)? for instance enabling a DHCP server would cause problem to our network, as all Phones will begin registring with the CCM on the PC? is that right?
would a separate VLAN be better solution?

2) i want to be able to manually configure any IP-Phone we have on our Production to register with the CCM on the PC for testing purpose. How can i do that??

I would definitely put the test CCM on a seperate VLAN. It probably wouldn't cause any problems on the production network but why take a chance.
As for registering a production phone to the test CCM, statically assign the IP address and gateway as the production network but set the TFTP server as the test CCM IP address. The phone should then get it's config file from the test server and register there.
