CCM Line settings (alerting name v display name)

Hi All,

Can someone please explain to me the difference between the alerting name and Display name fields in CCM 4.1(3)?

I understand that display name setting is displayed on the called phone for internal calls, but how is the alerting name field used? I am investigating an issue where 2 users (Caller A and Caller B) have the same DN in different partitions but when caller A calls an internal number, caller B name is displayed. Both users login with extension mobility.

Hi Steve,
I've noticed in my system when I add the Alerting name you will see the name of the user you are calling. So if I have a phone and my alerting name is filled in anybody placing a call to me (internally) will see my name.

I think that's it but if I'm wrong somebody please correct me.
