Guys,

I have installed CCM 4.01 on to my IBM x305 server, I am running windows 2000 server.

I followed the previous instructions on how to install on a generic pc.

The problem I have is when i try to bring up the

CallManager Administration page

Site: (Server Name)
Realm: (Server Name)
Username: (i use Administrator)
Password: (password used in install)

after that is entered i get

HTTP 500 Internal Serverf error

I also noticed when the unit is rebooted, I get a error in event log regarding CDP not being started.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Also when I try to start the CCM in the services, I get the following error.

"Could not start the Cisco CallManager service on the Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal service error. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

No luck with any suggestions huh. bah.

I've had the same issue before. The only fix I found was re-installing from scratch. Wish I had a magic pill for you.

Yah me too, I have installed almost 3 times already :-(

I don't know what you were using but this is what I use:
1. Install Windows 2000 Server
2. Install SNMP Management services
3. Apply service pack 3 for windows 2000 server
4.Install IE 6sp1.
5.Merge HWCHECK.reg into the registry
6.Merge OSCHECK.reg into the registry
7. Run OS Update
a.win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-6.exe
8.Reboot
9.Install CCM 4.0
10. Run OS Update
a.win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-6sr6.exe

Forgot to mention, set the static IP address BEFORE you install CCM. That broke my last installation. I tried to set it AFTER I installed CCM. Also be sure you edit your LMHOSTS file.

Where do you get the following;

5.Merge HWCHECK.reg into the registry
6.Merge OSCHECK.reg into the registry

Also is okay that I have a slipstream installation of windows 2000 server with SP4?

HWCHECK.REG =
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems\Model]
"Hardware"="MCS7835"
"Memory"="1024"
"Speed"="733"

OSCHECK.REG =
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spirian\System Info\OS Image]
"Version"="2000.2.5"

Copy these into Wordpad or Notepad. I don't know about the slipstream question. I have always installed with Win2K disk and followed above. Any deviation could cause it to fail.

Another question,

What do I have to modify on LMHOSTS file.?

LMHOSTS is the servers DNS. If you have internal DNS running, it's a minor issue but something I'd still do. It maps your Servers name to the servers IP address in case DNS is down. If you read the comments in the LMHOSTS.SAM it tells you how to edit it. Then save it as LMHOSTS no extension.

Still having issues, I am able to sucesfully install the cisco call manager 4.01 but when I try to bring up the administrative page, i get an internal error message. I check the services and see that Cisco call manager is disabled, I try to enable it and get the following message.

"Could not start the Cisco CallManager service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error. If the problem persists, contact your system adminstrator."

I modified the LMHOSTS file with no luck.

Any other suggestions?

Guys,
I think i figured out how to install 4.0.1 CCM
These are the steps that I have done to get it to work.

1. I intalled win2kserver with sp4 slipstream (all i had to work with) made sure IIS and Network Monitoring tools were installed.
2.Applied Windows 2k patches from windows update. (IE61, etc)
rebooted
3.Installed Ms sql server 2000 and sp3 patches, rebooted
4.Merge HWCHECK.reg into the registry
5.Merge OSCHECK.reg into the registry
6.copied os-upgrade 2-7 to harddrive and ran installer (unit rebooted twice)
7.copied os-upgrade 2-7r6 to harddrive and ran installer (unit rebooted)
8.Installed CCM 4.0.1 cd1 asks for cd2 then cd1 again.
9. hosts and lmhosts file modified.
10. followed m$ tutorial on ntfs permissions found at this url

after that you should be able to bring up the web administration page.

Hope this helps.

Now on to CCM 5.0 :)

drkagent,
I am also having the same error you originally had. I have done all the steps up to step 9. Can you clarify a little bit more what you mean by hosts and lmhosts file modified? I have been working on this since Christmas. Your input is appreciated.

Thanks,
