Hi All,

This is my 1st attempt at installing the latest version using the Mitel package OVA for hosted VMware environment.

According to the install guide I have to install MS excel on the server, before firing up the CCM install package. When I do so
I get a Microsoft message stating that I cannot install excel because Microsoft Access database engine 2010 is installed.

I can un-install the MS access database engine but my question will I break anythings if I do? Is MS Access a new component for internal workings of CCM. I have read through install / deployment guides and see some notations in relation to MS access on converting inter-Tel data.
The update course notes (6 to 7) make no mention either.

The last one I installed, I think I put on the free excel viewer software from MS without issue

the ccm installation installs that access component , i seem to remember i had the same issue once and Uninstalled it , loaded excel and then installed the access component for the version of excel that you installed

are you sure the ova didnt also contain excel , I never bother and just manually create the servers ( even on virtual) but i thought that their ova just needed a product key for S2008 and excel

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

and due to an endless stream of MiCollab , MiCC issues
Life would be simpler If only they tested products properly before releasing them .....

Thanks for responses.

Got onto Mitel support and they pointed to me a thread in the Prairiefyre KB.

Basically you un-install the 32 bit version of MS Access DB engine then install a 32 bit version of office or standalone excel. Then run the CCM install wizard.

BTW The install guide is not clear requirement for excel on server, but states excel is needed for report generation, especially scheduling reports which my clients wants.

Don't really see the need to buy excel. The free stuff works with PF

Pretty sure that you do , clients can use viewer but server needs excel to generate them
This is from a PK knowledge base article
CAUSE
Microsoft Excel is required to be installed on the CCM server in order to generate reports starting in 5.8. Previous CCM versions did not require Excel to be installed on the server unless the Scheduled report distribution was being utilized.

RESOLUTION
1. Install Microsoft Excel on the CCM server
2. Log into the server using the same username as the prairieFyre Reporting service
3. Go to Start => Run and type excel then hit Enter
4. Ensure that excel launches fully, and is ready for use (ie: not popping up a registration screen, etc.)
NOTE: Microsoft Excel 2003 and higher is supported.

MORE INFORMATION
A fully licensed and activated version of Excel must be installed on the CCM server in order to generate reports. Clients can either use the full version of Excel or the Excel viewer which can be downloaded here:

I put the viewer on the server and it generated scheduled reports
