I got my hands on a dvd bootable disk of CCM 5.0.1 was wondering if anyone knew if there is a work around fix to install in a generic pc?

Thanks.

There must be. I know people who have it running on their laptops. Unfortunately, I have no idea what those workarounds are. :-(

you probably need to run a virtual linux machine on you windows box becuase 5.0 runs on linux. just a thought.

Right, but what i heard that it only installs in cisco certified hardware.

same goes for 4.1.2 but you hack the registry to make Call manager think its an Cisco badged MCS.
i am new and just trying to help so unfortunately i dont have all the answers

go here there may be some good info

also have you ever heard of cisco certifid laptop?

I know i havent.

I didn't use Cisco certified hardware and my install worked just fine.

Do you mind me asking you what hardware you did install into?

Thanks.

I installed on an P4 desktop machine (I think it was an HP D300v). The machine had a gig of memory in it I think.

AdmanOK,
Can you post the installation procedure in a desktop pc?

Did anyone install CCM 5.0 on generic PC already? I guess there isn't any registry tweaking :)

So, those of you that's installed it.. what's your take on it? Nice? Much Imporved? Nothing but junk?

oh, what's this about only running on linux? is that a system requirement now?

It's not requirement, its all in one package on one bootable DVD. OS is red hat linux instead of win 2000 server and I know nothing about linux (yet).

CCM 5.0 runs on Linux and you won't have to know Linux to run it. From a recent update I attended at Cisco, when the server first boots, you fill in all the network information, IP addressing, DNS, etc. and then it boots into CallManager 5.0. You will have no access to the OS kernel from that point on. CCM 5.0 is based on features in CCM 4.1.X.
There is also CCM 4.2 that runs on Win2k or maybe Win 2003, not sure which. It has additional features over CCM 5.0 or CCM 4.1. So there will, for a short time, be 2 paths to follow. When CCM 5.1 or whatever they call it, maybe even 6.0, the features will merge and there is supposed to be a choice between Linux or Win2X server as the OS.

I have instaled CCM 5.0 beta on vmware and already during instalation I noticed problems during configuration of web admin password: if I pressed tab on the end of password and down arrow on confirmation password, they did not match. It looked like tab is another character.
So I pressed down arrow at both ends and instalation was ok, server starts normaly, but on ccmadmin page that password doesn't work. I browsed web for help and I found out, there is a default password: cisco cisco for user CCMAdministrator ( But it doesn't work either.

Is someone actuly installed callmanager 5.0 to a generic intel PC or VMWare virtual server?
I am trying to install it on VMWare server and it sais unsupported hardware.
Please share experience.
