Firstly I would like to say I am not a network administrator I have just been lumbered with the job so please go easy on me :).

I have a Win2k Server with a domain set up on it. I can use any of the machines on the network to access all the computer within the domain without any trouble as long as they are running Win2k unfortunatly I also have a Win 98 machine trying to access the computer and what happens is when he double clicks on the computer name he is asked to input a password. I have no idea what the password would be, how to find it or even why it is asking him to input one.

He has exactly the same domain settings as everyone else (as far as I can see) so I just don't understand what I need to do.

Please Help.

Andrew,

Is your Win98 Machine a member of the domain? What exactly are you trying to access on the server? If you have a shared directory you can map a drive to it on your win98 machine. Set up a win98 username and password on the Server using "active directory users and computers" call it anything you want. Then make sure it has permission to access you shared drive. Then from the win98 machine map a drive(right-click on network neighborhood, etc.) to the server and enter the username and password you created. You can also do this in a batch file.
