Hello;

We are going to buy CCC agent license and want to do the install our selves. I have never installed agent licenses and am new to the Avaya phone system. Is there a white paper that describes how to install the licenses, or is it fairly straight forward?

Thanks.

Hi, as an ex-Avaya Instructor on the IP Office and tech support for a distributor I cannot stress how important it is that you go on a proper training course. Just as with any system, it's relatively straight forward to do the simple stuff but if you hit the wrong button then you'll do all sorts of damage. The training is money well spent.

The actual loading of the licenses is very simple if you know what you're doing. But without knowing your level I don't know where to start....do you have the Manager software, do you know the passwords, do you understand the various software versions etc?

You will need the license dongle to start with - do you have serial,USB or parallel? Is Manager configured to point towards the Feature Key Server?

There are so many things that need expanding on.

If you can let me know more info then we can go from there.

Distrubedone;

We are version 3.165 of manager. I do know the passwords to get into manager. The key is a parallel key. Manager is on the server that the key is on. Any thing else?

Thanks,

Are you installing CCC too? Or is someone else doing that? If someone else is, why don't they just put the licenses in too?

If you're installing CCC too then that's far beyond the scope of a forum. The CCC course alone is 2 days.

As far as the licenses go, you will need the file that comes from Avaya with the license key in it. It arrives as a Zip file, with a spreadsheet in it. The reseller who bought this from Avaya will be sent this. The license key itself is a 32 character hexadecimal code that is case sensitive. Always copy and paste this. In Manager, go the the Licenses area and create a new entry and paste the key in. Then save. It's that simple. They can be merged but since v3.0 they time it takes to verify licenses has changed - I always suggest to load the license key, save and walk away for 3-4 mins to be sure they've worked. If you go back into Manager before they've been checked then you'll need to restart the system.

Are system is installed and has been in place for about a year. I am new in the company and have been tasked with Adding more CCC licenses to the ones that are in place. We where going to buy 10 more to add to what we have... So it sounds like it is a cut and paste process?

Thanks again.

Yep, it's a simple cut & paste. As I said, the only thing to watch out for these days is the time it takes to check the licenses. Save and go and get a cup of coffee is my suggestion! Have a look in Delta Server if you know your way around that and you'll see the new licenses there too.

Thanks again. Yep, next step is to try and get some training.
