To start off, I'd like to let you guys know my situation and then I'd greatly appricaite your input.

I'm a network admin for a medium company, (6 sites, 100 employees). We are implementing Citrix into the environment, but concurent to that my CFO would like me to get certified. That is the catch 22, nothing to really work with or play around with to learn on. I do have some limited Metaframe XP expierience (very limited) and lots of Citrix Program Neighborhood experience. I've downloaded the XP Admin guide PDF and also ordered CCA Citrix MetaFrame XP for Windows Administrator Study Guide by Cert trainer.

What do you guys think? Am I hosed? Should I be able to pass the test with these readings and some practice tests?

It _can_ be done - if you study hard, and try the Sybex book or Boson tests.

Can't you contact the VAR that you're buying your MF software from and request a demo? That will help enormously - you only need install it on an old PC (as long as it's stacked up with RAM!).

Hope this helps

CitrixEngineer - Thanks for the plug.

As the author of the Sybex book, I must say that the test has changed and the book may be a little dated. I know...I'm actually pushing people away from my book, what am I doing?

I want to make sure people are happy. We tried to write it as a reference as well, so the book still has some value, just don't think that you can read the book and go take the test. It will require some hands on and some additional reading. Most of the points in the book are still tested, but they have changed the objectives a bit and some things are not covered.

If you do buy the book, shoot me an e-mail when you get ready to take the test and I'll try to fill in the blanks for you the best I can.
