The campus core switch Cisco Catalyst 6509 switch interfaces are all up but line protocol is down. It was stacked in the rummon mode and I reset it and it is now booting normally, but still I cann't see the bin file when I say 'show bootflash:'. When I try to copy IOS image, I don't have an up up interface to connect the tftp server. So I don't know what to do.

It would be a dir bootflash: to look at the binary file . Also the bin file is not always on bootflash , it might be located in slot or disk 0: .If it booted up normally it has to be in either bootflash or slot or disk0: Is there a boot statement in the config to see where it is trying to boot the file from ?Hopefully you have maps to show you where this is connected to and then you will have to figure out what is going on . Is there any config on the 6509 or did it get wiped out ? hopefully you have backups somewhere . Even if you don't have connections and if you have no connection out as a last resort if you have the config file you can cut and paste the file back into the 6509 .

Buckwheat is correct for these new all IOS boxes you do have to boot from sup-bootflash or slot0 : . Still getting used to these myself , I will put a little comment in here that the reliability of these so far has been less than stellar .

If I am understanding you correctly, you have a switch stuck in ROMMON mode and you reset the switch. Looks like you might have blown away the CAT OS. If so, you will need to do an "Xmodem" procedure to copy the OS back to the switch. If you have to do this, then go to the Cisco site and down load the smallest OS you can find for your switch. Use this small OS during the "Xmodem" procedure. (go to the Cisco site to get instructions on Xmodem procedure). After you get the small OS on the switch you should get and up up when you connect. Then you can use the TFTP server and get the larger OS you need back on the switch. Hope this helps. Also hope I mis-read your needs, as the Xmodem procedure is long one.

if its a sup2 you can use an ata flash card..

I have tried to find the bin file in all locations but not available. I think perform Xmodem procedure as friedmanji said. I have seen the procedure at Cisco website but I will try it a little later. For your information the supervisor engine is sup1A. Thanks everybody.

Hey, I have got something else. The switch shows a message " LCP failed to go online " when it boots. Does this help?
