Catalyst 5500 Cannot console in

Hi

I have been given a Catalyst 5500. It has just a single supervisor 3G.

I cannot console into the supervisor but all the LED's are green and it appears to be OK.

Any ideas at all welcome. It seems a shame to dump a 13 blade chassis.

Have you tried all baud rates? Changing the baud rate was always a easy way to confuse those trying to check out your switch without your permission.

What kind of cable are you using? Usually a rollover cable should work for these things, ie thats something different then a cross btw. If you use hyperterminal do you see anything happening?

Actually for some reason you need a straight-thru cable and a RJ-45 to DB9 adapter to console into the Cat 5500's. After that you should be able to use the regular hyperterminal settings to get in.
