Hi, i have two identical Catalyst 4003's (same hardware, software, memory etc)

on the first one if i type any command and press enter it sometimes freezes my telnet session. other times it will be ok.

it doesnt seem to be a command related problem as i can issue a multitude of commands and it can happen on any.

im running software image cat4000.4-5-1.bin if that helps
ive looked on the cisco site and couldnt find anything

the second swithc is fine and does not have these problems
Any suggestions??? or it it simply the switch gets busy and forgets about my telnet session???

Many thanks in advnace
Matt

If the switch is busy it will put a lower priority on youir telnet session but this indicates that the switch is REALLY busy to point of being unmanageable which means something else is going on . If you do a show proc cpu what is it saying for cpu utilization ? Generally these switches will say 30% even with nothing going on , if it's like 70 or 80% then you need to track down where the traffic is coming from . Also the code you are running is really old and not even supported anymore so if there is any way to upgrade i would . Anything unusual in the logs ?
