I have a Catalyst 2948G that is running CatOS. It is connected to a 3524 switch and I have set up trunking using dot1q between the two switches. However I'm unable to talk to the network from the 2948G. On the 3524 I did a show cdp nei detail and the native vlan is set to 54 on the 2948G. All of our other switches have native vlan set to 1. Can anyone tell me what command I use to set the native vlan to 1 on the 2948G?

Thanks

This is the Layer-2 version running CatOS I presume? If so just change the Access VLAN to whatever the Native should be:

set vlan x 1/1

Where 'x' is the Native VLAN you require.

Thanks ADB100. That had to be the only thing I hadn't tried.

Be careful with VLAN 1 though, Cisco recommend minimising the size of VLAN 1 and not using it for any data, as well as manually clearing it from trunks. Even when it is cleared it is still used for Cisco specific control plane traffic such as CDP, VTP, PaGP etc.

If you read some of the design guides Cisco recommend unique Native VLAN's on every trunk port.

Good luck

Andy
