Can anyone help me out with this error message!

"A format inconsistency was encountered while attempting to access or process tape based catalogs on device"

Tools, Options, Catalogs - uncheck Use Storage based media catalogs.
Then run the catalog - it still may error out with a similar message, could be a bad tape/tape drive.

With NTbackups you can do catalogs even when there is tape missing, or damage tapes

Thanks guys! I finally (hopefully) got everything working. Just one last issue, I now see in my media set additional listings of the same media. Any reason why this might happen. I was playing around with moving media from one set to another. Why after running a test backup, the only tape I was using for the backup shows up 3 times in a one tape media set.
