catalog block

Hi,

I have a problem. I have multi user catalog and my catalog is block. I'm log to creator user and i go to the menu CATALOG + USER PROFILES this option is gray. I dont have access why? Because other user use this catalog? thanks Can I access my user profile in another place? What is catalogpicklock.exe

Martine,

You cannot modify the catalog as Creator if someone else has it open as Creator before you, or if the catalog file is marked as read-only by the OS. CatalogPickLock is (I believe) a utility that Cognos Support can use to help you get into your catalog if you lose the password.

If i have another user (creator or not) who are open this catalog before me the catalog is read only and i can't access this catalog or just if a user open with creator user?

Martine,

The first user to open the catalog, regardless of user class, will gain exclusive (read-write) access.

If you want to change the catalog, you can take a copy of the catalog, make the changes in the copy and then overwrite the main catalog.
