I've recently obtained a new job here. I'm running into a lack of understanding of how Cat-5 cables need to be handled to safely run 100Mbps. Layer 1 problems can be a PAIN to troubleshoot!

I am looking for some training material / documentation on catagory 5 specifications. I'm looking for not just max. length but min. turn radius, max. untwist length to punchdown, etc. etc. etc.

Anyone know where I can find such references?

If truth were not absolute, how could there be justice?

google search for "ethernet specifications" or "cat5 cable specs". You'll find a bunch of information.

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Quick Question. If you're a Sr. Network Engineer, how can you be asking this question. Plus, you say you're ccnp, that means you've must of gone through the ccna training and they go over all kinds of specs for cat 5 cabling. Either way, you can refer to the BICSI home page and from there, you'll find some info on Cat 5 specifications.
