All of a sudden my cash drawers will not open.

Let me first tell you what my environment is.
I am using Aloha quickservice 5.2.4.59.
The server is a windows xp pc and my terminals are IBM 4695's running windows 98.

I had problems with my terminals communicating with the server and getting them out of redundant mode. It ended up that Ihad to reset the windows 98 network password on my terminals. I refreshed my system and everything seemed to be working but one of my cash drawers stopped firing. Well that was ok for then. I have 2 stores and I had a screen replaced in one of them. While the vendor was there, I asked him to go over and look at the problem with my cash drawer in the other store. He made it worse. Now both of them are not firing. I checked the physical condition of both drawers and there are no problems with the relays or anything like that.

My question is this. How do you reconfigure the drawers? They are directly connected to the register through the serial port. I assume there are some software configuration issues with the configuration that needs to be fixed.

I tried to go in and delete and add the drawers back in using the q pos manager. To no avail.

Still fails

do you get any messages on the front of house ?

have you tried restarting after installing them on opos

have you checked if the fire from the opos in control panel ?

I have no messages.
I did a refresh after the delete and install of the cash drawers.
I don't know what you mean by checking for the firing at the qpos control panel.

Reinstall/Install IBM POSS on the terminals and or make sure Cash Drawers are set to IBM4695 A (Port 3A)/IBM4695 B (Port 3B) in Aloha Manager. IBM POSS 1.4.3 should be on the Aloha Install CD.
