I don't know my caroot password. Can anyone tell me how I can the password to run my backup. I am running version 9.
Thanks in advance.

Hi JRMS,

You can reset the password for CAROOT by running the following command from the home directory of brightstorarcservebackup....

* authsetup /p "newpassword"

I have tried to change caroot password, but get returned error: Authsetup: Error opening domain service initialization event

Any idea's how to get around this password change? Or, do you know the default password for caroot?

I have done the above steps and I still cannot reset this password. I am logged on to the domain as administrator.

C:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup>authsetup /p "manager"
AuthSetup : Initializing the authentication database
AuthSetup : Password =******()
AuthSetup : Domain services are running.

Hi,

1. Stop ALL ARcserve services are running.
2. Rename the folder named <server_name> under
Drive:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\data\discovery
3. Restart ALL Arcserve services. - This should recreate
the folder
4. Open a DOS window and CD into the ARCserve folder
5. Type "ca-qmgr -list" - this would prompt you to
establish an equivalence if none exists.. type "Y"
6. authsetup /p "" - to blank out the caroot pwd.

Hope this helps..
