You have three cards in a hat. One is white on both sides, one is red on both sides, the third is white on one side and red on the other. You pull a card out of the hat and lay it down. The face is white. What are the chances that the other side of the card is also white?

<It answers a completely different problem which, in one specific case, happens to match the correct answer for that original problem.

Yes, I see your point. However, I believe Olaf left some unintended room for ambiguity in his original statement. I believe he was working on the assumption that the layout of the cards I gave was a given constraint.

<This interesting puzzle is more than 100 years old.
Quite so; I certainly wouldn't have been able to think it up on my own!

p5wizard, my problem isn't scrolling; it's that my PC cannot handle typing in boxes on very large pages. I don't know why; if the page is long, I type, and hte words appear some seconds later.

To give you an idea of the problem, I typed the above paragraph from "; if" in "I don't know why", up to the end of this paragraph, without seeing any text on the screen.

I then waited about 8 secs before the text appeared and then typed this line.

I'm using Internet Explorer 8 on a 1-year-old PC so things ought to be better than that! Any sggestions greatly appreciated.

I totally agree... something weird is going on in the background. I suggest posting in the appropriate OS forum, such as forum1583 or forum1726
