I apologize if this is not the place for this post but I don't see a more appropriate, active forum.

Can anyone tell me how to capture Internet Radio (broadband cable) using Roxio Easy CD & DVD running in XP ? The Roxio Audio Guide says one can "easily record audio including Internet Radio..." . But when I go do to do that, it does not have an Input choice for Internet. The only Input choices are: phone line, microphone, line in, CD audio, video, aux, mono mix, stereo mix
How do I tell it to use what is being streamed? Is phone line a generic selection for streaming?
Thanks

Open your mixer while Internet Radio is playing; see which input it's working on (probably stereo mix), and select that.

bracadar : thanks. I looked at the website. I don't have Winamp and I'm not sure that other one is still usable.
I do have the VLC Media Player which can record streaming to a regular disk (not a CD) but it has two big problems: it's a multi-step process to get it to start (no hot key), so I miss a lot of what is playing by the time I get it recording. And it cuts out the sound card when it records so I can't hear what is being recorded and when to stop recording. I was hoping Roxio did not have those two problems and would also go directly to the CD.

gbaughma: Thanks - I'll try to look for that tonight

Cause: In order to capture audio from other applications or streaming content, the appropriate Input options, such as your audio settings (such as Stereo Mix, Wave Out Mix, etc.), is set incorrectly or unavailable. However, some sound card drivers do not support this option and no such option is available in the Input drop-down list.
Make sure you have your sound routed properly so you can record from your computer's own audio card.

Windows XP
• Double click on speaker icon in the System Tray (lower right hand side).
• Go to Options and select Properties.
• Select the appropriate audio device/card.
• Under Adjust for Volume, select Recording.
• From the list of Volume Controls, verify supported Line In options and select appropriate input: Stereo Mix, Wave Out Mix or a similar option.

I went in and turned everything on so I'm not certain which one it was but it was probably stero mix which was muted. I specified that for the Input . Now I can hear it playing as it records. It won't record directly to Audio CD - apparently I have to record it as wav and then do a separate create Audio CD operation.

Thank you (and stars to) bracadar and gbaughma.

One odd thing - I'm getting static from the audio out from the Audio CD when the msuic is streaming (I had turned everything on). When I mute audio cd the static is gone but I wonder if that's normal for the static to be there because there isn't any audio cd playing, only the streaming. Or could there be something wrong with audio cd inputs that's causing the static?

It seems the problem was solved the problem on my XP machine. But my 2K machine doesn't play the music as its being recorded. I looked in the same place as in the XP machine but 2K does not have a stero mix setting which I believe is the one that worked on the XP machine. I'm also using VLC Media Player (Windows Media Player won't play a radio station that is not in it's list)

Just checked my XP machine again. It's not working with the VLC Media Player there either, now, I don't know what I changed that it stopped working. I don't believe when it worked it was with Windows Media Player because that won't record to a regular disk drive - only to CDs. And I haven't made any audio CDs (except what I copied from existing files).

So I'm back where I started...and I can't figure out why.

Please disregard the immediately preceding post.. I don't have Roxio on my 2K machine so the problem with the VLC Media Player (post before the preceding post) for the 2K machine is still a problem.

I apologize for any confusion from the mistaken previous post.
